Web Industries Contract with Siemens

Web Industries Announces Extension of Contract Manufacturing Agreement with Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics
Web Industries to continue manufacturing chemistry and immunoassay diagnostic cartridges through 2017

September 14, 2012

MARLBOROUGH, Ma. – Web Industries, a leader in medical product development and contract manufacturing, today announced the extension of their existing contract with Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, a global leader in clinical diagnostics, under which Web Industries manufactures the Dimension® Cuvette cartridges for Siemens. These cartridges are used on the Dimension® family of integrated chemistry systems, which offer efficient, automated medical panels and disease-state profiling on a single analyzer. The Dimension® systems are used in healthcare and clinical laboratories around the world. Under the contract extension, Siemens retains Web Industries as the only authorized manufacturer of the Cuvette cartridges through 2017.

Web Industries manufactures the Cuvette cartridge at its Boston location using a custom-designed, proprietary, semi-automatic production operation housed in a Class 100,000 controlled environment. Multiple film substrates are slit to narrow widths and tight tolerances before being loaded into the diagnostic canister for final assembly. Web Industries manages the entire product supply chain, from sourcing a dozen materials from component suppliers to shipping the finished product to multiple client destinations. Web Industries also handles all ISO 13485 and FDA-required quality assurance and material traceability requirements.

The Dimension® integrated chemistry systems, an important part of Siemens’ portfolio of solutions, are designed to address the needs of any sized lab. Siemens’ initial contract with Web Industries to manufacture the Cuvette cartridge began in 1996, with volumes rising as market adoption of the system increased. Over the past five years, Web Industries has produced more than two million cartridges to the highest quality specifications while maintaining a perfect on-time shipping record.

“The success that we’ve seen with the Dimension® Cuvette diagnostic cartridges exemplifies the benefits of having a great partner like Web Industries,” said Thomas Gentilucci, Director, Strategic Sourcing, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. “Web’s contract manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain management expertise have allowed Siemens to focus on providing innovative solutions to serve the growing medical diagnostic market, and we’re pleased to extend our relationship with Web.”

“The duration of the Cuvette cartridge contract is a great example of what Web Industries offers medical device companies,” said Blake Batley, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Web Industries. “We find efficient, long-term solutions to manufacturing challenges while staying committed to continuous improvement and maintaining the quality levels that the market demands. This lets our partners focus on what they do best: developing the next generation of medical device solutions.”
