Web Industries to highlight thermal insulation solutions for space & aerospace applications at Small Satellite Conference

Space and aerospace OEMs interested in evaluating a thermal insulation product sample made of woven ceramic, Kevlar® and other materials are invited to Web Industries’ exhibit at the Small Satellite Conference, August 5-8, 2019, Utah State University, Logan, Utah. The woven sample features integrated grommets and fasteners showing how the full-size product could be attached and secured to an actual space vehicle.
“Conference visitors can examine the woven product close up,” says Web Industries’ Thermal Insulation Business Development Manager Lee Smith. “The sample highlights Web’s capabilities in designing and manufacturing thermal insulation solutions for small satellite and other space applications.”
MLI Blankets
In addition to the sample, Web also plans to showcase its multi-layer insulation (MLI) blankets for a wide spectrum of space applications. MLI blankets are lightweight components consisting of multiple layers of film or foil that reflect radiated heat energy. The blankets deliver exceptional performance in space environments.
“NASA scientists have tested MLI blankets using a calorimeter and obtained an R value (used to measure thermal insulation efficiency) of approximately 10,000,” Smith reports. “That is phenomenal insulating performance, many times higher than any other insulation product.”
Web can design and produce MLI blankets at commercial scale and at a rate necessary to meet tight launch schedules.
Web will also highlight its precision cutting and kitting capabilities at the conference.
