With more than 20 years of experience providing contract manufacturing services to the composites industry, Web Industries is committed to the composites market and continually strives to enable further advancements of composite applications. In fact, Web Industries is the world leader in processing next-generation composite materials used in the aerospace, military, industrial, automotive and wind energy markets.

A Premier Source for Precision Slit Tapes

Web Industries has qualified pre-preg slit tape spools on all major Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) systems in the aerospace industry. To help you meet the quality, tight-tolerance and compliance demands of highly regulated composite products, we build custom-designed spool packages to ISO 9001, 14001, and AS9100C certifications.

Our comprehensive range of world-class production converting and development services provide you with the capabilities you need to move ahead.

Aerospace-Grade Production and Converting Capabilities

To help you take the guess-work out of slit tape qualification for manufacturing programs, we offer the following services:

  • Production capabilities for precision spooling, slitting and winding
  • Pre-impregnated (prepreg) carbon fiber converting includes:
    • Thermoset, and thermoplastic resin structures
    • Including other composites and also converting services for most composite material types

As our customers embrace commercial-scale manufacturing using precision composite slit tapes, Web Industries has made significant investments to scale our operations to meet the growing demands. In 2005, we opened a new facility in the Atlanta, Georgia area with three times the space of our former site and plenty of room for further expansion. Atlanta now serves as our Composites Manufacturing Center of Excellence for aerospace and other markets.

The new environmentally controlled facility is also fully equipped to provide:

  • End-to-end materials traceability
  • Automated inspection systems
  • Aerospace-grade freezer storage and processing rooms
  • Class 100K clean rooms
  • Electronic documentation
  • Complete process controls

Comprehensive Development Services for Emerging Composites

To help you optimize and qualify new materials for AFP applications, we recently opened the Web Industries Development Center for Composites Automation in the Atlanta area facility.

This 10,000 square foot, ISO-certified1 development environment is the first of its kind to be fully dedicated to developing and testing new and emerging pre-peg carbon fiber composites for qualification and use in the AFP process.

The Development Center has been purpose-built to:

  • Support the high-quality, high-precision demands of composites manufacturing
  • Comply with stringent aerospace and composite industry standards
  • Leverage the world’s most advanced and productive slit tape processing technology
  • Meet qualifications for major commercial, defense and space programs

Engineers from around the world can come to the Center to complete performance, process-ability, durability and fit-for-use assessments on new composite materials, instead of ramping up internal systems and staff.

Find out more about how the Automation Development Center can help you speed development and time to market, decrease costs and move into the AFP process with more confidence and less risk.
